So you’ve got your new bolt-on wheel spacers and adapters from Driven Products. What next? Your bolt-on wheel spacers should be used when the offset of the wheel is not ideal for your tire and wheel application and/or if your vehicle's bolt pattern does not match the bolt pattern of your wheel. They are the perfect solution for a better stance and more aggressive look, improved wheel and tire spacing, fixed brake caliper clearance issues, and inner fender and suspension clearance.
Before You Start
Installation by a professional technician is highly recommended. These instructions will serve as a general guide for bolt-on wheel spacer installation and are not specific to your vehicle. Installation of any component or system should only be performed by those with proper training and experience. Only use this guide for installation if you intend to follow all instructions below.
Step 1 - Bolt-On Wheel Spacer & Adapter Fitment Checklist
Before installing your new spacers and adapters, be sure the following three specifications match with your vehicle and wheel application. From left to right: (1) Vehicle Pattern, (2) Wheel Bolt Pattern, (3) Spacer/Adapter Thread Size, (4) Spacer/Adapter Width, and (5) Center Bore.

Step 2 - Prepare For Wheel Spacer & Adapter Installation
Now that you’ve verified bolt-on wheel spacer/adapter fitment, it’s time to prepare your vehicle for installation.
- On a clean and level surface, lift and support your vehicle using the proper tools. Be sure to use jack stands, set parking brake, block wheels, and wear proper protective equipment.
- Clean the surface where the wheel spacer/adapter will be mounted and, when applicable to your specific vehicle application, remove the rotor/drum retainer clips.
- Remove all rust and corrosion with a wire brush. Surface must be clean so the wheel spacer sits perfectly flat on mounting surface. If surface is not clean, wheel vibration will occur.
Step 3 - Installing Your Wheel Spacers & Adapters
- Check that the wheel spacer/adapter sits flush against the vehicle hub mounting surface. Match the bolt circle of the wheel spacer/adapter to that of your vehicle.
- Install spacer/adapter by first finger tightening the supplied open-end lug nuts until you can no longer turn them by hand. Do not use any tools for this step.
- Once all lug nuts have been tightened to meet minimum thread engagement, use a calibrated torque wrench to secure the lugs in a star, or criss cross, pattern. Refer to our wheel torque sequence chart to determine proper pattern and sequence for your installation.
- Place the wheel onto the vehicle hub after the wheel spacer/adapter. Match the bolt circle of the wheel to that of your vehicle and wheel spacer/adapter. The wheel must make full contact with the mating surface of the wheel spacer.
- Install your lugs and tighten with your hand in a star, or criss cross, pattern until you cannot hand tighten anymore. Refer to our wheel torque sequence chart to determine proper pattern and sequence for your installation. Do not force your lugs on with a wrench. If they cannot be turned by hand, stop installation and contact a Driven Products Fitment Specialist.
- Once all lug nuts have been tightened to meet minimum thread engagement and your wheel is sitting flush against the mating surface, lower the vehicle to ground and tighten all lugs to the proper torque specifications shown in your vehicle owner’s manual. We recommend using a calibrated torque wrench for this step. Apply torque evenly by repeating the star, or criss cross, pattern until the desired torque is reached.
- Once your installation is complete, drive the vehicle for 10 miles and repeat step 3 until the wheel spacer/adapter is no longer in need of re-torquing. Do this as many times as necessary for your wheel spacers/adapters to seat properly. Check torque again at 100 miles. Failure to follow this step can cause damage to your wheel spacer/adapter and/or wheel studs.
Step 4 - Post Installation Checklist
We recommend that the following safety checklist be completed after your wheel spacer/adapter installation. This checklist is not intended to replace the installation guide above. Instead, we’ve included this checklist to help ensure major safety points were checked before, during, and after the installation process. - Bolt-on wheel spacers are verified to be the correct fitment for your vehicle and wheel application, including vehicle bolt pattern, wheel bolt pattern, spacer/adapter thread size, wheel spacer/adapter width, and center bore.
- The lugs used for installation meet meet minimum thread engagement.
- All threads, studs, and mounting surfaces are free from rust, corrosion, fractures, lubricant, etc.
- Air impact wrenches were not used to install the lugs.
- All lugs are tightened to the proper torque specification with a calibrated torque wrench.
- All lugs have been re-torqued after the first 10 miles or driving.
- All lugs have been re-torqued after the first 100 miles or driving.
